Having a chance to hear the talented sax players live at SILA Saxophone Idols Live in Action concert at Newport Performing Arts Theater at Resorts World Manila last October 12, 2019 was really an exciting, humbling, grateful, and exhilarating feeling. Thank you to Ms. Saralee Abesamis for tagging us at the invite and for always trusting me to cover events under Slam Event Production! I am still in a hype moment as I always find saxophone as a music instrument who never fails to create great mood and ambiance. The sax players of SILA2 concert sounded hip, sophisticated, relaxed, romantic, and sensuous. Every one of them seems so stylish, talented, and interesting people.
As a little background, I remember a music professor back in college told me before that the saxophone was invented later than the piano, violin, or other traditional classical instruments. Originally, it was designed to be used in military bands, to be a loud, outdoor instrument. Then, it was adopted by jazz and that's maybe the reason why most people, including me, associate it with jazz. It is in jazz where it grew up and had its history and roots.
Just like others, I often associate saxophones with jazz or pop but upon witnessing these talented sax players (Youtube Star Marc Vincent Dimayuga a.k.a. SaxSerenade, Eat Bulaga Sax Hero Josh Espinosa, Master of Sax Archie Lacorte, and Saxfastrack coach and producer of SILA Coach JB Javelosa alongside new artists and guests Nicole Tejedor a.k.a The Sax Diva , Dr. Joben Abraham, Ms. Glenda Cagadoc, XT on Sax, Ronn Kenneth Bailon and the SaxFastrack 1st Class playing in live I realized its capacity to be a really melodic, beautiful, and versatile singing instrument. Sax music takes you there. Great sax players just like these performers (SILA2 performers) really take us to places like no other instrument. I believe guitar players would argue with that, but in this case, it's true!
Attending a concert like this is really a fun activity, it really boost our emotions throughout the entire day, until now I still feel a lightness of spirit after the concert. The excitement of getting a ticket, preparing for the show, attending with my loved ones, and savoring the memories really provide me and my husband and daughter with happy memories and feelings . The expense and the stress of getting there in time as the weather condition and the traffic situation is really bad that day is well worth the positive experience we had hearing them playing live. Seeing my daughter with special needs all throughout the concert jumping for joy and clapped non-stop melted my heart.
SILA2 concert gives us a chance to experience their music live and discover new sounds that I didn’t know I liked and I believe will love for years. For most people, music has a huge impact on mood, and finding music I love helps me to improve my mood. I am now a fan!
Archie Lacorte's "Play that Funky", Josh Espinosa's "Halik", Nicole Tejedor's "The Way You Make Me Feel", Sax Serenade's "Araw Gabi", XT on Sax's "Di na Muli" and JB Javelosa's "Here I Am" really blew me away and made me want to literally take them home with me. I wish I really had the money hehe. I also admire how Archie Lacorte highlighted all the supporting band members and how Josh Espinosa gave a moment of spotlight with the drummer.
The people behind S.I.L.A. (Vol.2) aim to create the biggest "Saxophone Concert in Asia". Passionate talented people with a heart that is into sharing their talents, inspiring sax player enthusiasts, and glorifying God with their chosen craft. I pray for more blessings and projects for them and more Filipino people to inspire. Thank you and kudos again to the humble, wonderful, and talented people of S.I.L.A (Vol.2), from the performers, staff, and all the supporters! Congratulations!!!
